(Citizens Energy out of Green Path Project)….The non-project Energy broker had been the instigator for the project. Green Path was designed to transport renewable energy out of Imperial Valley to the Los Angeles area and beyond.

The original partners were the Imperial Irrigation District, Citizens and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. San Diego Gas and Electric and Citizens later partnered with the IID in a Green Path South Project. The San Diego Utility is alone on the Green Path South Project. Los Angeles officials say Citizens dropped out of the Green Path North Project after the California Independent Systems Operator would not allow operation of the line to be split between L A D W P control area and the CALISO. The I S O is the grid operator in the State. Los Angeles officials say Citizens decided not to appeal the CAL ISO decision and dropped out of the project over a week ago. They say they are continuing to work with the Imperial Irrigation District on the project. The IID has not made any official comment. Some type of comment may be made at the IID Board meeting Tuesday.
