U. S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Calexico east port of entry made six drug seizures in less than 48 hours. The flurry of activity began at about 9:00 AM Wednesday July 30 when 23 wrapped packages of marijuana were found in a hidden compartment in a Ford Windstar with Baja California plates. The 109 pounds of marijuana is valued at over $43,000. The driver of the van, a 41-year old Mexicali woman was arrested. The second seizure occurred about an hour later when 8 pounds of methamphetamines , valued at approximatlly $86,000 , was found in a Jeep Cherokee. The driver, a 51-year old resident of Sonora, Mexico and his 21-year old daughter were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Seizure number three resulted in the arrest of a 27-year old Calexico man after CBP officers discovered 35 pounds of cocaine valued at $280,000 hidden in the rocker panels of a Toyota Camry. The fourth seizure occurred at 6:25 PM when a 39-year old Mexicali man was found to be driving a vehicle with 57 pounds of marijuana concealed in a non-factory compartment. That marijuana was valued at almost $23,000. The fifth seizure occurred just 5 minutes later when a 19-year old Mexicali man was found smuggling 58 pounds of marijuana in a Nissan Sentra. The man was arrested by ICE agents.The sixth seizure occurred at about 1:15 Thursday afternoon when CBP officers discovered 11 pounds of marijuana hidden in the door af a Dodge Stratus. The driver, a 32-year old Mexicali man , was arrested by ICE agents.
