(Former Imperial Officer due in Court Tuesday)…..36 year old Carlos Castro Jr. could be sentenced during the hearing.

Castro was found guilty Friday of five counts of dealing in firearms without a license and one count of conspiracy to deal firearms without a license. He was scheduled to go before a Federal Magistrate for a status hearing. It is expected a sentencing hearing would be scheduled by the Magistrate. Castro could be sentenced to five years for each count, plus a fine of $250,000 on each count. A co-defendant originally indicted with Castro is still at large. The former Police officer was arrested in 2006 by officers from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Imperial Valley Narcotics Task Force. The arrest followed a two-year investigation. Castro had served as the Imperial Police Department liaison with Mexico, Officer in Charge of the Departments firearms and he was a canine officer with the department.
