Cano pre-trial set for August 11

(Cano court schedule set)….Kym Cano was in Superior Court Monday. District Attorney Gilbert Otero says Cano’s pre-trial hearing was scheduled for August 11. At the same time, the Judge set the readiness conference for September 29. The jury trial was scheduled for September 30. Otero said the readiness hearing would determine if both the prosecution and defense attorneys are ready to begin the trial. He said jury selection would begin September 30. Otero said they would have ten days for the actual trial to begin. Cano is accused of the December 2006 shooting death of her husband. At the time of his death Frank Cano Jr. was a California Highway Patrol Officer. The prosecution contends a domestic dispute erupted in the couples Calexico home, and they allege Kym Cano shot her husband with his service revolver. The defense contends the shooting was unintentional.
