(Calexico is looking for a new Planning Commissioner)….Without explanation, City Councilman David Ouzan asked that his appointee to the Cities Planning Commission be removed. No explanation is required. The Council agreed Mohamed Asiad would be removed from the Commission, and they asked the City Clerk Lourdes Cordova to begin the search for someone to fill the vacancy. Asiad is one of nine Candidates seeking a seat on the City Council in the June 3 elections. Also Tuesday night, the Council agreed to initiate the formation of a Community Facilities District. The new District will be to help construct the proposed La Jolla Palms Retail Center. The Council scheduled a public hearing for May 6 to discuss forming the District, to levy a special tax to finance the acquisition and construction of certain public facilities and to pay certain fees. Also at the hearing the discussion will cover a proposed bond for the project. In other action, the Council agreed to move forward on a new parking lot at First Street and Heber Avenue. |
