Calexico Police Officer Dies In Traffic Accident

A traffic accident in rural Holtville Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a Calexico Police Officer. Two Calexico Police Officers were returning to the border city in a marked police car following a training exercise in Holtville when they collided with a hay truck at the intersection of Bonds Corner Road and Snyder Road. Officer Adrian Castro Cordova,26, a two year veteran of the Calexico Police Department was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Brian Porras, 28, a one year veteran of the Department, sustained moderate injuries in the accident. Porras, like Cordova ,a Calexico High School graduate. was airlifted to Yuma Regional Medical Center.Both officers were assigned to the Patrol Division of the Calexico Police Department. The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
