(Calexico given a check for $3 million)…The presentation was made Thursday in Calexico.

Congressman Bob Filner and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matthew Crow presented the Economic Development Administration investment check to Calexico Mayor Louis Fuentes and other local dignitaries. The funds are to help build the infrastructure needed to develop the Town Center Plaza and the Portico/Kloke industrial and commercial sites. Crow said the investment will serve as a catalyst in attracting industrial and commercial businesses to Calexico and the Imperial Valley and will position the region to become a greater global economic center. The investment is expected to generate $400 million in private investment and create more than 2,000 new jobs.
