(Calexico wastes little time in reorganization)…The County Board of Supervisors accepted the certification of the June 3 elections Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday evening Calexico seated their new City Council members elected in those elections. Dolores Provencio, Registrar of Voters, certified the last count for the June 3 elections on June 19. The candidates had five days from that date to request a recount. Nobody did. John Moreno, Luis Castro and Daniel Romero were sworn in as the new City Council members at the Tuesday council meeting. Lourdes Cordova was sworn in for another term as City Clerk and Rodolfo Moreno took the oath as City Treasurer. The new council chose Louis Fuentes as the new Mayor, and named David Ouzan as Mayor Pro-tem. Presentations were made to the out-going council members Lewis Pacheco, Carmen Durazo and John Renison. The new council also authorized the City Clerk to advertise vacancies on all City Boards, Commissions and Committees, and they authorized the current appointees to serve until July 15. All other business on the Tuesday agenda was postponed until a later date, or tabled indefinitely.
