(Current Cab Companies can keep their permits, but there will be no new ones)…..The Calexico City Council discussed the Cities Taxicabs in two different issues Tuesday.

In one action, the Council decided Border Cab and Calexico Taxi could hold on to the permits they currently have, as long as they stay current with the necessary fees. In a separate action, the Council decided to put a hold on any and all new Taxi permits. There are currently four applications pending in the City. The Council said they would be revising the City Ordinance that deals with taxicab permits, and until the language for the revisions is known, the new permit applications would have to wait. The Council did not say how long it would take to have the amended ordinance in place.
