Calexico, California - Cocaine Seized at Ports of Entry PDF Print E-mail

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted two loads of cocaine destined for the United States. The seizures occurred last week. The first  took place Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 when a 1995 Ford Bronco entered the downtown Port of Entry. During a secondary inspection agents discovered 44 pounds of cocaine hidden in a special compartment inside the gas tank. The cocaine was valued at $440,000. The driver a 20-year old U.S. citizen was arrested. The second seizure occurred at 7:30 Thursday evening when a 2007 Toyota Rav4 approached the east Port of Entry. The SUV was escorted to secondary inspection where 27.4 pounds of cocaine were found in a non-factory compartment beneath the center console. The driver, a 25-year old U.S. citizen , and his passenger, a 23-year old woman with Mexican citizenship were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The drugs were valued at $274,000. Both vehicles were seized by Customs and Border Protection.
