(Outgoing C E O honored)….The County Board of Supervisors recognized Roberta Burns Tuesday. The Board took time to recognize Burns for her 36 years of service to the County of Imperial. Burns will soon retire as County Executive Officer. She began working for the County as an Eligibility Worker Supervisor in what is now the Social Services Department. She worked her way up to the highest non-elected position in the County. Burns was presented a plaque, roses and a lot of kind words. Board Chairman Gary Wyatt said he appreciated Burns commitment to the welfare of the County. He said she came to the job of C E O under challenging circumstance. Wyatt said she leaves with the Retirement System solid and the Budget in good shape, despite State financial problems. District one Supervisor Victor Carrillo said the County was losing a wealth of information. Carrillo said Burns was respected statewide for her work as Imperial County C E O. He said she was a roll model for all employees. Burns said it was an honor to have worked for the County, but it was now time to move on to other efforts. She said she recognized that all her accomplishments and efforts were the result of the employees around her. Ralph Cordova is replacing Burns as the County Executive Officer. |
