Burns Announces Her Retirement

County Chief Executive Officer Roberta Burns today told the County Board of Supervisors that she plans to retire next year. Burns was appointed CEO in June of 2003. She has worked for the County of Imperial for over 35 years. She told the Board of her decision during an Executive Session Tuesday morning. Burns plans to retire in July of 2008 and indicated her willingness to work with the Board to provide a smooth transition to a new CEO. The Board, after brief discussion, said that they intend to move quickly to hire a replacement for Burns. The Board added that they hoped a replacement could be found soon so that the new CEO can begin the transition by working closely with Ms Burns.
