(A 37 year old Brawley man is shot by Police)…Sergeant Perry Monita of the Brawley Police Department says officers were called to 11th and H Streets at 1:30 Thursday morning.

The officers were responding to a domestic violence call and reported stabbing. At the scene, Monita says officers confronted 37-year-old Coronado Sanchez, who was armed with a knife. The Sergeant says Sanchez refused to drop the weapon. He says officer’s tazed the man and sprayed him with what the Sergeant described as O C’s. Monita said when none of these actions stopped the suspect; one of the officers fired a shot. The shot hit Sanchez, and he died at the scene. The unidentified female victim of the domestic violence was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital for treatment of a stab wound. The woman’s 17-year-old son was also treated for a superficial stab wound to his wrist. Monita says Sanchez apparently had a relationship with the woman, but did not live with her. The incident occurred at the woman’s residence. The Sergeant says his Department is investigating allegations of sexual assault in the incident. He said the County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the Officer involved shooting. Deputy Coroner Henry Proo says and autopsy will be conducted Friday.
