(Brawley police arrest a couple early morning drunks)…The first incident occurred at just after mid-night Thursday morning.

Sergeant Perry Monita says 37-year-old Tomas Funez of Brawley was stopped in the 600 block of Imperial. Funez was stopped for suspicion of drunk driving, but further investigation determined he was on parole. Further investigation determined Funez was in possession of ammunition, and that is illegal for a parolee. He was arrested and charged with DUI and parole violation. The second incident was reported at 5:30 Thursday morning. Monita says 26-year-old Martin Hernandez was driving south on Dogwood Road. As he approached Malin Road, he apparently lost control of his vehicle and he ran into the fence line of the Imperial Irrigation District. The vehicle rolled, injuring the driver. Hernandez was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. After that he was arrested and taken to County Jail, charged with DUI.
