(A 20 year old Brawley man is killed in a head on collision early Wednesday Morning)…The California Highway Patrol closed Dogwood Road from Aten to Cruickshank for a couple hours following the collision that involved four vehicles.

The C H P says at just after 5:00 in the morning, Eduardo Gilberto Espinoza was driving his Honda Civic Southbound on Dogwood at over 55 miles per hour. As he approached a slower moving vehicle driven by Perry Agnew, Espinoza apparently pulled into the northbound lane to pass. The Highway Patrol says the Brawley man pulled his vehicle directly into the path of a northbound pick-up driven by 60-year-old Gerardo Robles from El Centro. Robles apparently had no time to take evasive action, and the vehicles collided head-on. The force of the impact caused the front of the Robles pick-up to detach and the vehicle overturned onto the dirt shoulder. Espinoza’s vehicle suffered major front-end damage. It came to rest in the southbound lane. Debris from the collision struck another pick-up, traveling behind the Robles pick-up. The second pick-up was driven by 33 year old Eduardo Beltran from El Centro. The Beltran vehicle suffered minor damage and the driver was not injured. The Agnew vehicle was not damaged and the driver was not injured. Robles and his passenger, 25-year-old Timothy Robles both suffered minor injuries and were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment. All except Espinoza were wearing their seatbelts. The Brawley man was not wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
