(Brawley adopts a new budget ahead of the deadline)….Because of grant obligations, the City of Brawley must adopt their new budget by May 31. get.

The City Council held a special budget meeting this week to meet that deadline. They did. The Council adopted their new spending plan, that includes a partial payment for the cost to construct the new water treatment plant, and have almost $3 million left over. Interim City Manager Karen Morgan Said the total spending plan came in at over $50 million and included funding for several special projects, including the partial funding for the treatment plant. Revolving state funding will cover the bulk of the construction costs. Personnel increases were not included in the new budget.
