(Dedication ceremony scheduled for Brawley Bypass)…After years of planning and fighting for the funding, construction of the final phase for the Brawley Bypass is ready.

The State Transportation Committee recently approved the final $49 million to finish the project. The Bypass will connect Highway 111 to Highway 86, reducing truck traffic from the Brawley area. The dedication ceremony for the final phase of the project has been scheduled for June 7. Cal Trans and the Imperial Valley Association of Governments are hosting the ceremony, celebrating the continued construction of the Highway 78/111 Brawley Bypass and the dedication of the Victor V. Veysey Expressway. The ceremony will be held where the Highways 78 and 111 intersect just east of Brawley, beginning at 10:30 in the morning. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the Saturday ceremony.
