Brawley budget up for adoption Tuesday

(Brawley City Council expected to adopt their budget Tuesday)….A special meeting has been set for Tuesday, May 27. The meeting is set to begin at 12:00 noon. During the Council is expected to make minor changes to the Cities tentative spending plan for the next fiscal year. The total 2008-09 budget comes in at $51 million, about $9 million higher than last years budget. Interim City Manager Karen Morgan says the increase is due to several special projects in the new budget, including the partial funding of the cities new wastewater treatment plant. In order to comply with grant obligations, the city must adopt their new spending plan by May 31.
