El Centro Sector Border Patrol Agents apprehended two illegal aliens and confiscated over $400,000 worth of illegal drugs earlier this week. On Wednesday, Agents observed a suspicious ATV stop close to an S.U.V. near the Buttercup Campground in the eastern part of the Valley. The ATV was observed going south into Mexico while the S.U.V. went onto Interstate 8. Agents used a controlled tire deflation device to bring the S.U.V. to a halt after the driver failed to yield to agents who were following. Agents recovered 513 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $410,000. Agents also apprehended the driver and his passenger, both Mexican nationals in this country illegally. The vehicle , marijuana and suspects were turned over to the Drig Enforcement Administration for further investigation and pending criminal proceedings.
