Border Patrol Makes Two Local Drug Seizures PDF Print E-mail

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents, with an assist  from the California National Guard , seized 174 pounds of marijuana worth nearly  $ 140,000.00 in two separate incidents. On Tuesday July 11th a minivan drove into the Border Patrol checkpoint near Indio. After initial inspection the minivan was referred to secondary  inspection  when a K-9 alerted on the vehicle. California National Guard troops operating a  mobile x-ray unit located a total of 80 pounds of marijuana under the second row  of seats in the minivan.The contraband was in 24 separate packages and has a  street value of over $90 thousand dollars.
 
Wednesday, in a separate incident , 94 pounds of marijuana, valued at  nearly $ 220,000.00 was located using the mobile x-ray machine at the  checkpoint. The drivers of both vehicles were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriffs Office.
