(Border Patrol agents seize marijuana, a loaded firearm and an S U V)…..Yuma Sector Border Patrol officials say one of their agents, using night-vision equipment mounted on a ground surveillance radar system Saturday, observed a vehicle traveling south toward the All American Canal in Andrade.

The agent reportedly saw several individuals come up from the canal and load several objects into the vehicle. The vehicle then drove away. The agent operating the system immediately  alerted other agents in the area that the vehicle was headed north. Officials say the agents had to use a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle. The agents searched the 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Inside they found a loaded handgun and three duffel bags full of marijuana. The combined total weight of the duffel bags was 124 pounds. The estimated value of the marijuana is $99,000. The weapon, drugs and vehicle were turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration officials. The unidentified driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest. The driver was only described as a U.S. citizen from Yuma.
