U.S. Border Patrol Agents confiscated over three-quarters of a million dollars worth of marijuana and arrested a Mexican national suspected of smuggling the drugs into the U.S. Sunday, Agents observed a suspicious S.U.V. near the U.S./ Mexico border in  the Imperial Dunes area. The S.U.V. was first observed while still in Mexico. The vehicle proceeded north into the desert near the Imperial Dunes and then on to Interstate 8. When Agents attempted to stop the vehicle it failed to yield. A controlled Tire Deflation Device was deployed and the vehicle came to a safe stop. Agents arrested the driver and found 960 pounds of marijuana in the S.U.V. The truck was determined to have been stolen sometime before the incident. The driver, drugs and vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation and pending prosecution.
