KXO RADIO - Border Patrol agent hit at checkpoint

(Vehicle runs checkpoint)…Westbound lanes on Interstate 8 were closed at Buckman Springs Road, near Campo. Traffic was detoured around the area, as the investigation continued from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday. The vehicle reportedly crashed through the checkpoint, striking a Border Patrol agent. Shot were fired, and the vehicle was detained. Officials say the driver and four passengers were taken into custody. The condition of the injured agent was not released. Border Patrol officials did not say if anyone was hit by any of the shots that were fired.
