Border Patrol Agent Dies In The Line Of Duty PDF Print E-mail

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agent assigned to the El Centro Sectors Indio Station died Friday afternoon while working along the Coachella Canal near Niland. Agent Richard Goldstein was reported missing Friday afternoon after his service vehicle was found parked and idling along the Coachella Canal, his K-9 partner sitting alongside. Multiple local, state and federal agencies immediatly initiated a search and rescue operation. Sometime later Agent Goldsteins body was found floating in the canal. The discovery was made by fellow Border Patrol Agents. Circumstancces surrounding the Agents death are being investigated by the Imperial County Sheriff's Office.  Agent Richard Goldstein was 37 years old and a five year veteren of the Border Patrol.
