(Black Friday is an apparent success in Imperial County)….The busiest shopping day of the year was no different in Imperial County. Hundreds lined up for a first shot at the bargains offered this Christmas shopping season. Stores around the County opened early to accommodate the shoppers. In other Thanksgiving Day news, hundreds were fed by the Salvation Army in El Centro and by the Neighborhood House in Calexico, as well as by other charitable groups around the County. Hundreds of food baskets were also passed out leading to the Thanksgiving Day Feast. In Calexico police report a shooting. Details are sketchy, but police say they are continuing to investigate. No arrests have been made, at last report. Several accidents have been reported, so far in the Imperial Dunes. No reports of fatalities. The California Highway Patrol is in it’s Maximum Enforcement, a holiday program in which as many patrol officers as possible on the roadways. The CHP has reported no fatal injury accidents on the Imperial County roadways, so far this holiday.
