(Contrary to the rumors, El Centro Police Chief Leonard Knight has not resigned)…El Centro City Manager Ruben Duran said Friday morning the beleaguered Police Chief has not resigned. Duran said he had checked with the Cities Human Resources Department, and they had not received any such letter, either. Duran said he was meeting Friday with the Police Officers Association to discuss the very public complaints made against the Chief. The special committee appointed by El Centro Mayor Jon Edney to look into those complaints is also meeting Friday. Knight has taken the day off, and is not available for comment. The Chief reportedly took a sick day that Duran said had been scheduled for a while. |
