(Real Heroes Breakfast is coming together)…The American Red Cross of San Diego and Imperial Counties puts on the annual event to recognize local heroes. The San Diego Union/Tribune is presenting this year’s event, and it will be held on the U S S Midway September 26. Nominations for Real Heroes in 10 different categories can be submitted until July 1. To nominate a local heroe go to the website, sdarc.org. The keynote speaker at the September event will be retired New York City Fire Chief Daniel A. Nigro. He became Fire Chief for the largest Department in the United States on the afternoon of September 11, 2001. Nigro will discuss the events leading to his emergency appointment after his predecessor was killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center.
