Accident On Interstate 8 Slows Traffic

A three car chain reaction accident resulted in multiple injuries and slowed traffic on Interstate 8 for about an hour Monday afternoon. The accident was reported at 1:16 PM on westbound Interstate 8 about midway between Dogwood Road and 4th Street in El Centro. The California Highway Patrol along with El Centro Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident. The westbound lanes were closed for about 10 minutes as emergency crews tended to the injured. Traffic was restricted for almost an hour as crews remained on the scene. Details are still sketchy but there were several people injured. The accident remains under investigation.
