(Fireworks events go off almost uneventful)….The fireworks displays on July 4 in Calipatria and at Imperial Valley College went off without a hitch. The July 3 event at Paradise Casino did experience a small situation. Mike Erfert of the Yuma Fire Department did respond to a small brush fire at the Casino. The fire was the result of a stray that landed in dry brush. Erfert said while there was not a lot of information available, it appears the brush was put out without incident, and before it had spread very far. The fire was reported at 9:45 Thursday night. It was out within an hour. Early reports are that no citations were issued over the weekend for any violations of the Counties Personal Fireworks ordinance. |
