With the failure of phone service in the Imperial Valley the Emergency 9 - 1 - 1 system is not functioning. The Imperial County Sheriffs Communications Center has asked that people with a 9 1 1 emergencies go to their nearest Fire Station, Police Department or Hospital for emergency response. The Valley-wide communications system failure has made the 9 1 1 emergency system inoperable with regular telephones. Some cellular service has been restored. We still have no information on how long this system failure might be remain. There is also no word on what caused the failure.
