| United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico east port of entry cargo facility discovered 2.7 tons of marijuana valued at over $2.1 million Tuesday. The officers found the drugs in a box truck that entered the port at about 2:10 Tuesday afternoon. 316 wrapped packages of the narcotic were discovered hidden in 37 boxes that were manifested as printer cartridges. The drugs were located after the truck was referred to the ports gamma-ray facility. The intensive examination found anomalies in the shipment. The truck was than off-loaded and the grass was located. The driver, a 51-year-old Mexican man , was arrested by special agents of the U.S. Immigration and Cuxtoms Enforcement (ICE ) and booked into Imperial County Jail to await arraignment. |
