155 Pounds of Marijuana Nabbed At Checkpoint

Indio, Ca. - U.S. Border Patrol agents working the Highway 86 Checkpoint Monday afternoon seized 155 pounds of marijuana. At about 5:30 PM a Border Patrol canine alerted to possible contraband in a pick up truck. During a search of the vehicle agents discovered 40 cellophane wrapped packages in an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed of the truck. The packages were found to contain marijuana valued at nearly $124,000. The driver was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
