(Brawley woman recognized on centennial birthday)….The County Board of Supervisors honored Clotilde Perez viuda de Gonzalez Tuesday.

Clotilde was born in Jalisco, Mexico on June 3, 1908. She sat out the last Mexican Revolutionary Civil War with her Grandparents in Mexico, before being brought to the United States in 1919. She attended the inaugural class at Miguel Hidalgo School in Brawley. Clotilde married Juan Gonzalez on September 28, 1929. They were married for 48 years, until 1977 when Juan passed away during Hurricane Doreen. Clotilde gave birth to ten children, and all attended local schools. Eight of her children graduated college, two with advanced degrees. Tuesday many of her family members attended the ceremony, in which she was recognized and honored with a plaque from the County Board of Supervisors. Some of the family even sang Las Mananitas.
