(Marijuana mixed in with cucumbers)….. Customs and Border Protection officers made the discovery late last week. The CBP officers were conducting an evening inspection of a 2002 Freightliner at the cargo port at Otay Mesa. The 40-year-old driver of the rig, a Mexican Citizen, presented a shipment manifest claiming he was hauling cucumbers. During an in-depth inspection of the cargo, officers found a box containing marijuana. A search of the other boxes resulted in the discovery of 288 packages of marijuana. The total seizure was over 1,600 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of around $721,000. The driver was arrested and charged with attempted illegal importation of narcotics.
