(Structure fire)…It was reported Monday night.
Imperial County Deputy Chief Salvador Flores said the 911 call was received at the Heber Station of the County Fire Department at around 9:00 pm. The Fire was reported in a structure located in the 800 block of Highway 98, east of Brockman Road. Mutual aid was requested, as well as assistance from the County Departments in Seeley and Imperial. Responding to the call was the Calexico and El Centro Fire departments, and Holtville sent one unit. The Deputy Chief said the strong winds made it difficult to fight the fire. He said the fire spread to nearby Palm Trees and other debris. The Highway was closed for two hours, and power to the area was disconnected by the Imperial Irrigation District. Flores said the structure was a complete loss, but no injuries were reported. He said the final crew was able to leave the scene at 1:30 Tuesday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
