The Imperial County Public Health Department says there has been another COVID-19 related death.

According to the Health Department , the patient was a middle-aged adult with no known underlying health conditions. This brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 6 in Imperial County. There are 214 total positive cases with 147 considered active cases. Sixty-one patients have recovered. 

Additionaly , the Health Department has been notified of the death of an elderly resident who was diagnosed with seasonal flu. According to the Department , the patient , who had underlying health issues , was hospitalized outside of Imperial County. The total of seasonal flu deaths so far this season is nine. The influenza season began in late September. 

The Health Department reminded residents to be proactive , stay at home , follow health and safety guidance , and f you haven't already done so , contact your healthcare provider about the flu vaccine. Both COVID-19 and seasonal flu pose serious risks to the health of the community.
