A Border Patrol canine sniffed out more that 7 pounds of fentanyl Monday afternoon.

It was the second major seizure in a week for Cibi , a canine assigned to the Yuma Sector Border Patrol. At about 3:00 p.m. Monday a pickup entered the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint near Blythe. The pickup was referred to secondary inspection after the canine team alerted to the vehicle. A search of the truck led to the discovery of over 7 pounds of fentanyl hidden under a seat. The fentanyl has as street value of more than $76,000. Two U.S. citizens from Brawley were arrested. This was the second significant seiizure for Cibi , the canine. Last week the dog located more that 60 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a vehicle.
