Imperial County will advance to the Orange Tier of the State of California Blueprint for a Safer Economy Plan.

The move to the Moderate or Orange Level of the State's Tier System will be effective Wednesday , April 7 , 2021. Tuesday the State updated guidance that allows that allows the move even though a slight spike in COVID-19 infections has been reported. The move to Orange will allow broader reopening of businesses and services.

Among the services and activities allowed under the Orange Tier will be places of worship able to open indoors with 50 percent maximum occupancy ; fitness centers and gyms open indoors with 25 percent maximum occupancy ; family entertainment centers open indoors with modifications ; offices open indoors with modifications ; retail stores and shopping centers open indoors at full capacity with modifications ; restaurants may open indoors at 50 percent maximum occupancy and movie theaters open indoors at 50 max capacity. 

Governor Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday morning that California expects to scrap the Tier System by June 15 , 2021. According to the State , there have been over 20 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine already administered and more than 2 million new doses are expected every week. It is expected that by the middle of June all Californians age 16 and over will have had access to the vaccine. The State has said that they expect the mask mandate will stay in effect past the June 15 target.

Also on Tuesday President Biden announced that all adults in the United States will be eligible to receive the vaccine by April 19 , 2021. In California the date for anyone over 16 is set at April 15th.
