The El Centro , Imperial and Westmorland Chambers of Commerce have decided to merge into the Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The move comes after a year of study and developing a business model for the regional organization. After discussions , polling membership , and a review of financial projections , the boards of the three chambers decided to move onto the regional concept. An Imperial Valley Regional Chamber executive committee , comprised of two representatives from each of the three chambers , will begin meeting next week to discuss and begin implementing the logistics of the merger. All current paid staff will be offered a position in the new Regional Chamber. A new CEO will be chosen from the pool of existing staff. Earlier this year the Brawley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors opted out of the discussions and the Calexico and Holtville  Chambers will remain on their own as well. The Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce will launch officially in early 2021.
