U. S. Border Patrol agents arrested 19 people who attempted to illegally drive-thru the U.S. / Mexico border.

At about 6:30 Sunday morning agents saw three SUV's heading northbound on Carrie's Road in the Jacumba Wilderness Area. When agents approached the vehicles all 3 SUV's quickly turned around and headed back to Mexico. One of the vehicles got stuck and the driver bailed out and fled on foot. Agents then located 17 people inside the SUV. A search of the area found two additional people. All were illegally present in the U.S. The two other SUV's continued south and as they approached the border 48 people jumped out of the vehicles and fled to Mexico. One 44-year old man from the group of 19 that was detained is being held pending further criminal charges for re-entry following removal. The other 18 were expelled back to Mexico.
