(The Count is over)...The results have been certified and sent off to Sacramento.

The November 3rd Election tally of ballots ended this week, just before the deadline. The count took much longer than usual. That was because many more ballots were cast than in previous elections. Imperial County normally has a very low voter turn-out. That was not the case this election. Increased interest in the November lection was reported across the nation. Imperial County was no exception. When the Official Final Results were released, the document indicated a voter turn-out for Imperial County at 67.93%. 57,160 ballots were cast out of 84,123 registered voters. After all that counting, there was little change in any of the races initially reported. In the closest races, Helena Diaz Molina picked up the second seat for the Heber Elementary School District Board, and Edgardo Garcia picked up the third El Centro City Council seat.
