U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Highway 111 checkpoint  hit the jackpot Friday.

At about 4:15 p.m. Friday a car approached the checkpoint near Niland , California. Agents inspected the trunk of the car and found a man laying there. Further inspection led agents to a handgun with two magazines and 13 rounds of ammunition as well as a noise suppressor in the glove box. Agents also found nearly one and a half pounds of marijuana in the car. The driver , a 38-year old U.S. citizen , was arrested and faces charges related to alien smuggling , weapons possession and drug possession.
