U. S. Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint stopped nearly $1 million worth of drugs over the weekend.

The seizures occurred between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. A Border Patrol canine team alerted to a car approaching the checkpoint at about 3:45 p.m. Friday. In secondary inspections agents discovered 54 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the rear bumper. The meth weighed nearly 46 pounds and is valued at over $100,000. 

The second incident occurred at about 7:15 a.m. Saturday when a canine team alerted to a pick up truck. In secondary inspection 180 packages of methamphetamine was discovered hidden in the roof , door panels and gas tank of the truck. The meth weighed over 245 pounds and has a street value estimated at over $551,000. Just minutes later a Border Patrol canine team alerted to a compact car approaching the checkpoint. in secondary inspection 60 packages of methamphetamine , 2 packages of cocaine , 2 packages of heroin and 2 packages of fentanyl were found in the rear quarter panels of the car. Total value of the drugs was estimated at nearly $320,000.

In all three incidents the drivers , U.S. citizens , were arrested and turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
