(Narcotics seizure)…Over a half million dollars in narcotics.

It happened recently at the Highway 86 checkpoint. A woman drove up to the checkpoint in a Ford pickup. As she approached the checkpoint primary inspection area, a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. The agent referred the vehicle and the driver to the secondary inspection area.. At secondary, another canine alerted to the vehicle. Agents used a fiberscope camera to search the pickup’s gas tank and they found numerous anomalies inside. The gas tank was removed from the vehicle. The anomalies turned out to be 23 sealed plastic bags containing a liquid substance and one sealed bag containing blue pills. The liquid tested positive for methamphetamine and the pills tested positive for fentanyl. The bags of meth had a combined weight of 196 pounds and an estimated street value of $612,000. There were approximately 1,000 fentanyl pills, with a street value estimated at around $25,000. The woman, a US citizen, the narcotics and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
