An El Centro woman is in custody after barricading herself in a house.
According to El Centro Policce Commander Jeff Mason , at 8:32 this morning , two El Centro Police Officers responded to a house in the 100 block of West Holt to investigate a 9-1-1 hang-up. As officers approached the house , the front door opened and someone inside stuck a rifle barrel out the door , pointing it at the officers. The officers retreated , took cover and called for more officers. A trained negotiator arrived at the scene and was able to establish phone contact with the occupant of the house. With the help of a friend of the occupant , the negotiator convinced the woman to surrender. 20-year old Jocelyn Salas was taken into custody and booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of brandishing a firearm at a peace officer and delaying or obstructing a peace officer. Her bail was set at $1,500. No one else was in the house. The rifle turned out to be a BB gun.
