A 19-year old Brawley woman is in Imperial County Jail after she attempted to enter the United States with more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.
The incident occurred Monday night at about 10:45 P.M. at the Calexico downtown port of entry. CBP officers performing inspections noticed the driver appeared nervous and discovered modifications to the gas tank of the SUV. A more intensive examination of the vehicle led to the discovery of packages floating in the gas tank. The 18 packages contained more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $337,000. The woman was booked into Imperial County Jail.
Later that same evening , a 22-year old Salinas man was taken into custody after Mexican law enforcement officials turned him over to CBP officers. Julio Cesar Garcia was booked into Imperial County Jail after officers discovered he was wanted for homicide in Monterey , California.
