The County Registrar of Voters has released an update on the March 3 Presidential Primary Election.

As of Monday , there are nearly 6,000 votes yet to be counted. With the latest returns several contested races got a little tighter. In the Imperial Irrigation District Division 2 race , challenger JB Hamby extended his lead over incumbent Bruce Kuhn. In earlier results Hamby had 40.78% of the votes with Kuhn at 27.3% of the ballots cast. As of Monday , Hamby has 41.6% , or 1,781 votes and Kuhn has 1,152 votes for 26.93%. Ryan Childers is still in the race for second place and a shot at the November run-off. Childers now has 1,086 votes for 25.39%.

The race for County Supervisor District 2 has tightened a bit with incumbent Luis Plancarte retaining his lead over challenger Claudia Cameron but that lead has narrowed from 57.77%  to 56.66%. 

In the Imperial Irrigation District Division 4 race incumbent Eric Ortega and challenger Javier Gonzales appear destined for the November ballot.

As of Monday , there were 3,290 vote-by-mail ballots , including ballots forwarded by other counties , remaining to be counted. There were 1,680 provisional ballots and 305 conditional voter registration provisional ballots and 655 other ballots including unprocessed ballots that are damaged , need to be remade , or require further review for an estimated total of 5,930 ballots to be counted.
