The U.S. Border Patrol El Centro Sector experienced a 36% decrease in total apprehensions this fiscal year compared to last fiscal year.
The breakdown shows the drop from 15,519 to 9,696 over that time period. To date in fiscal year 2020 the El Centro Sector processed 617 unaccompanied alien children , 733 family units and 9,696 single adults , a 36 % decrease.
Sector agents made significant drug seizures with slightly more than 28.5 pounds of cocaine , 20.79 pounds of marijuana , 750 pounds of methamphetamine , 76 pounds of heroin and approximately 16.5 pounds of fentanyl. Twenty-nine sex offenders and 6 gang members were arrested by local agents
