(Annette Buttner case is finally moving forward)….She has a new attorney and a court date has been set.

The process was bogged down after the Imperial County Board of Education member fired her defense attorney. She is being charged with 2 counts of perjury, one count of filing a false declaration of candidacy and one count of grand theft for an amount exceeding $950.00. Buttner was in the Imperial County Superior Court in El Centro last week. During the hearing a new attorney was appointed. Donald Levine, the new defense attorney, accepted the case on the condition there would be no short case setting due to his workload. The District Attorney’s office objected to that caveat. The objection was denied. The judge ruled the attorney needed to be allowed enough time to get up to speed in the case. Judge Brooks Anderholt is hearing the case after several other judges dismissed themselves from the case. Anderholt sat a pretrial date for March 5th in El Centro.
