Several agencies responded to a structure fire just south of the city of El Centro.
The fire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when an AMR ambulance , returning to base after a call , noticed smoke coming from a roof of a house in the 200 block of Horne Road. The ambulance crew investigated the smoke and found the house was on fire. They evacuated the residents ,who where unaware of the blaze. Imperial County Fire Department responded and then requested mutual aid from the Holtville , Calexico and El Centro Fire Departments. The American Red Cross also responded to assist the displaced family. The fire was contained in the attic area of the home. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
